nearly... hahahah!

still can't believe we've pick all of this up for free!!

genius.

the same table, 22piece foldout!

Table extention supporter

I found this table in my bedroom with a very basic extention "mechanism" that uses a block of wood slotted under the table to hold up the extended table top. The extention is about 30cm and the block is about 15 and is strong enough to draw on.

The block of wood is held in place by a pretty basic wooden "bracket" underneath the table top. The support piece is loose and can be taken out entirely.
This would be a no fuss soloution as we haven't learnt much about metal yet and making a collapsable extention arm would be time consuming and we only have 5 days to finish the project.

Thoughts?

Matt Akehurst

I have talked to you about a project by a recent student, Matt Akehurst. This is his living module/studio desk. He made this for a performance in his 3rd year, he set himself a drawing project which took place over 42 hours (I think) so he lived in this unit, it contained a bed/workspace/shelves for food and compartment for waste. This unit could be taken apart and re-made so he subsequently used it as a workspace, in the main SCUL studio in his 401 year and again in his Postgraduate studio when he did Honours.
One of Matt's other projects is gallerygallery
http://www.gallerygallery1.blogspot.com/
and he is one of 4 Directors of ABC projects, the gallery due to open tomorrow night:

I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you at the opening or come in when the project is nearing completion.

Recyclable materials

Recycling already used materials.. Is this something to look in to as a dominant aesthetic in the studio? Could it also be cheaper??
Getting a tad off track here but found this nifty design :)

More Tables

All the others on the site are hideous.
Just two hidden gems.
I think the scrap wood one is a lovely idea, especially considering if we used wood cutoffs from the workshop it would have a romantic ring to it.

Approx Measurements..

Tried to figure out the approx amount of material we would need to make each desk with. I came up with 3 meters squared-at minimum. This does not include any shelving etc inside the detached part of the 'L'.

For Lorna :)

Make your own 3d, walk through floor plan.

The chairs are great... Here is a link to Martini Gampers website.

starting over is not as easy as it first appears...

Hi... I have heard from some of you who haven't been able to contribute as 'contributors'. I've sent those invites to you all, so am not sure what the problem is, but will try to get things sorted... I'm unfamiliar with blog sites myself, never having been invited to join a blog! so bear with me...If you are unable to join I'll try to get some advice for when we meet on Monday...
Those of you who are available may want to meet on Monday at 10 to touch base about your studio project.
In the mean time, enjoy the next few days and your weekend.

lets start over

Hi All,
Good to see you today...
Will get this up and running. As you probably won't be meeting again till Monday feel free to start posting your ideas and any links up here over the next few days.
